“There’s alot of climbing on cobblestones up to Berat castle but our group of 8 enjoyed our visit to picturesque Berat. Belshi Lake was merely a rest stop with the majority of the time spent at Berat. Arber our guide was excellent. He provided a good mix of history with story telling and wove in some cultural info also. He even dressed in traditional clothes from his village. We enjoyed this side trip from Tirana.”

“The guide really tried his best and followed the tour company’s itinerary. He like other guides were either working 2 jobs to make a living or studying and working part-time. That is not so much the issue if they are given proper training. I feel for them trying their best in the circumstances. He like the other guides we had for historical or tourist sights were all relatively new in their jobs and could really benefit from more professional training. The tour companies charged a premium for private tours for 3 of our tours booked on Viator but we felt it was not good value for money. The problem is…”
